Tintagel is a castle in the Duchy of Cornwall.
Castle Tintagel is built on the peninsula of Tintagel Island - a narrow land-bridge is the only way to reach the castle, the rest of the walls being exposed only to the sea via a cliff-face. This makes it almost impenetrable to hostile forces.

Evading King Uther's army, Duke Goloris of Cornwall secured himself in Terrabil and left his wife and treasure in Tintagel. King Uther came to put the castle to siege. After new of Duke Goloris' death, the body was delivered under flag of a truce and a surrender negotiated the next day.
